RMJM’s Dubai studio has received the green light for planning one of the tallest towers in Europe, located in the Atasehir district of Istanbul, Turkey. The mixed-use building, which includes super-high-rise apartments, will consist of a tower approximately 300m tall, comparable to the height of London’s Shard. RMJM’s Dubai studio came up with the planning schematics for the 5,00,000 sq. m development with three towers.
Under the stewardship of Jonathan Knight, Design Principal at RMJM, the primary tower will include a hotel, a sky lobby, serviced apartments, and a public shopping mall of about 30,000 sq. m in size. There will be a separate 30 to 40 storey block which will be exclusively for residential purposes. The third installation will consist of a dedicated office tower addressing the new financial district.
The project is located in the new Istanbul International Financial Centre, which has been accorded a special status by the government to promote development. Turkish construction companies, Varyap and GAP Insaat are working on the blue prints, and plan to commence construction on the site early next month.
